Leagues and Other Served Competitions

SCSRA-Ventura manages referee assignments across recreational, competitive, academy, and national youth platforms, supporting thousands of matches annually and providing officials for some of the highest levels of youth soccer in Southern California.

League Competitions

1. Coast Soccer League (CSL)

  • Affiliated with US Youth Soccer
  • Primarily a fall competition, with some spring league play.
  • Approximately 1,500–2,000 matches annually.
  • Main season runs from September through December.

2. SoCal Soccer League (SOCAL)

  • Affiliated with US Club Soccer
  • Primarily a fall competition, with some spring league play.
  • Approximately 1,500–2,000 matches annually.
  • Main season runs from September through December.

3. MLS NEXT

  • Affiliated with Major League Soccer
  • Premier youth academy competition in the United States.
  • Regional and national competition played during both the fall and spring seasons.
  • Local clubs served include:
    • Santa Barbara Soccer Club
    • VC Fusion

4. MLS NEXT Academy Development (MLS NEXT AD)

  • Development tier beneath MLS NEXT’s premier division.
  • Fall and spring competition schedule.
  • Approximately 500 matches assigned annually.
  • Local participating clubs include:
    • Oaks FC
    • VC Fusion

5. Elite Academy (EA)

  • National youth competition.
  • Fall and spring seasons.
  • Approximately 500 matches annually across multiple divisions.
  • Local participating clubs include:
    • Oaks FC
    • VC Fusion

6. Development Player League (DPL)

  • National girls’ competition.
  • Teams compete through U18 age groups.
  • Local participating clubs include:
    • VC Fusion
    • Oaks FC

7. Girls Academy (GA)

  • National girls’ elite competition.
  • Approximately 20–40 matches annually within our service area.
  • Local participating club:
    • Santa Barbara Soccer Club

Spring Leagues

SCSRA Ventura also provides referee services for:

  • Coast Soccer League Spring League
  • SoCal Soccer League Spring League

Tournaments

  • Assigns referees for approximately 8–10 tournaments annually hosted by clubs throughout Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

Future Expansion

Oxnard PAL (Police Activities League)

SCSRA Ventura is exploring an expansion of services to the Oxnard PAL soccer competition.

  • Anticipated start: Spring 2027
  • Competition would serve youth players within the City of Oxnard.
  • Discussions are ongoing regarding referee assignment and management support.
