1) Arrive Prepared at least 30 minutes ahead of game time
a) Regardless of assignment, be prepared to serve as either the referee or as an assistant referee.
2) Pre-game Field Inspection
a) Inspect the field and field equipment field, goals, nets, flags for safety and conformance with the Laws of the Game.
b) Referee may mark minor hazard in a clear and non-dangerous manner and proceed with the game.
c) Referee records deficiencies in game report and/or Supplemental Referee Game Report.
3) Pre-game Conference 20 minutes ahead of game time
a) Referee provides instructions on responsibilities, mechanics, procedures, and any match-specific issues
b) ARs question referee as required to eliminated any confusion
4) Check in teams 15 minutes ahead of game time:
a) Get game rosters from coach or manager
i) For CSL, the home team provides 3 copies of the match report and a stamped envelope
b) Collect game fees due prior to game time according to competition instructions.
c) Conduct player check-in against roster and player passes
i) No player or may play without a pass
ii) Game will not be played unless there is a coach present from the club that has a licensed coach pass
d) Inspect player equipment.
i) All players, including keepers, shall have uniquely numbered jerseys that matches the game report
ii) Medical bracelets are allowed but must be taped
iii) Other jewelry and bracelets are not allowed, whether taped or not.
iv) A player does not play if the center referee considers that any equipment is unsafe
e) 3 game balls are to be provided by the home team but can be provided by the away team if necessary
5) 5 Minutes ahead of game time:
a) Referee team and team captains meet at center of field
b) Coin flip called by away team and winner selects direction
